Tell me if this is right, if I only have 25 points at VGC, but have 160 at AKL, I can move the 160 onto VGC and have a total of 185 to use there as long as I only make a transfer once a year.
Based on what you said in your thread, you are adding on through Disney so your GCV contract will be an "add on" not a new master contract. You can't transfer points between a master and an add on because you don't have to do so. You can combine the points to make a reservation as if they were all one contract. HOWEVER, if the contracts are for different resorts (as they are in your case) you can only do that when booking 7 months out. While you are in the home resort booking window (11 months to 7 months plus one day from check in) you can use your AKV points to book AKV and you can use your GCV points to book GCV. Starting at 7 months from check in, points are interchangeable so you can use any of your points at AKV or GCV or BWV or SSR or wherever you like so it's only at that point that you can combine the points from the two contracts for one reservation.

Another technique people used is to book part of their trip 11 months out using home resort points and then try to add on additional nights starting 7 months out using points from another resort, subject to availability. This approach worked pretty well back when weekend nights were twice the points of weekday nights. You used your home resort points 11 months out to book the weekday nights and then used non-home points for any weekend nights you needed since those nights were often still available 7 months out due to their higher cost. Now that they have flattened out the point charts, that probably won't work as well in the future.

Even if they were completely separate master contracts, if you transferred your AKV points into your GCV contract they would still retain their home resort (AKV) and Use Year so you would not be able to use them to book GCV unless you were within 7 months of check in.

Oh well... that doesn't help as much as I hoped.

With only 50 lock offs at VGC I'm not expecting to be able to get in at the 7 month window. My basic plan for the VGC points is that I'll have to bank/borrow each time, so I should be able to stay there every third year.

That makes complete sense. The 4 contracts are confusing enough with the same membership number!

Thanks for the explanation
