We will be going to Disney World 2 times this year but unfortunately
do not know the dates yet because dh doesnt know his leave dates yet.
We are thinking the possible dates of the first trip will fall in late July to mid July and the
second trip would fall 4-5 months later which means the second will either fall in time for MNSSHP or MVMCP.

Anyhow, our kids (13) and (17) fell in love with the Boardwalk area on our last trip and dh and myself fell in love with Poly.
We have been debating back in forth about the pro's and con's of both resorts
and believe me when I say there are fewer con's then pro's.
It's safe to say that Epcot and Magic Kingdom are my favorite parks and
probably even in that order so I know either resort would make us happy.
Dh and I just love the idea of the hawaii style setting, the castle view and the
monorail, not to mention the POG!
The kids like the idea of Boardwalk because its a short walk to MGM and Epcot
and those are their favorite parks, not to mention they love the street entertainment.

We obviously have decided on these two resorts for our upcoming trips
but which should we stay at during the summer and which for the fall?
We have only visited these resorts so we dont know what they are like at
other times of the year. Anyone have a take on which would fit better for the season?

How about you and hubby shack up at the Poly and let the kids stay at BW? :icon_rofl:

I would suggest staying at the BW first - once you stay there you will be hooked. Great proximity to lots of action on the BW, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Mini-Golf, ... Poly has its perks as well, just not sure the kids would enjoy it as much as they would the BW.

Speaking of POG - was just at the store the other day looking to get some passion some orange and some guava - but wasnt certain that was the P O & G ... is that right?

For the Summer might want to try BC the Pool there is well worth it and the BW area is a Summer time Plus.

Save the Poly for Later trip and the Parties .But if get down in Oct the Food and Wine fest would be a hugh plus to stay at the Epcot resorts.

I agree either way you can't go wrong . We have been doing Split stays to establish what our favorite resorts are . We have been doing 11-13 day trips so it's like 2 vacations in one.

Yes, it is Passion/Orange/Guava but you would have to play with the measurements... If you get it right let us know! I love it!

I was also thinking about the food and wine festival and that was swaying me to stay in epcot area during the fall because my family has no problem with going to epcot at least once a day especially during f&w festival.

I would suggest doing a split stay too. That's what I always do. :)

You should also check to see if any of the hotels will be having pool rehab at the time you go. You don't want to be without a great pool in July. :icon_cool:

I have never done a split stay... How do you get from your first resort to your second resort with all of your luggage?
We will probably drive one of our trips but not sure about both and I had often wondered how you moved from resort to resort.

If you don't have a car, you can call bell services to take you luggage to your next resort. Then take your quickest mode of transportation, bus, monorail, taxi etc. to your new resort and check in. After check-in, go to the parks, and by the time you get back your luggage should be in your room.

As far as which resort when??? If you end up being there during Christmas time i.e. MVMCP, I would stay at the Poly, and take at least one trip around the monorail line, to see all the decorations in all the hotels. That,of course, would leave BW for summer. However, for F&W I would stay at BW.

Anyway, I agree with everyone else, you can't be wrong no matter what you choose!!:D:D

Split stays are very easy. We just call bell service while DW and DD get ready . I drive ( but a Bus to DTD or PArk then over would work as well) over to the new resort and check us in . This way we are in there system and everyone doesn't have to go. Then I just meet up with Dw and DD at the Park we are going to that day using the Bus so Car is at the new resort..

After around 4 or when the room is ready we head to the resort. Call bellservices and have them bring our Bags and that's it. We tip both the ones Picking up and the ones Dropping off but feel it's well worth it for us not to have to worry about it.

We rent a car but why Should I have to load and unload all the bags if Disney will do it for me for a few $$$$.It's also a pain as most DVC resorts don't allow you to use the carts by yourself.

I'm not sure if you're the same Winnie I told this to in the live chat, but in case you're not I'll answer again, lol.

I always do a split stay with the Poly and whichever hotel I'm staying at I'll only do a 2 night stay and then 5 nights at the Poly. I'll pack one bag just for our 2 night stay and then the other bags have the other 5 nights worth of clothes. I also move my own stuff. I just leave it in my rental car and then at about 4, I'll leave whatever park I happen to be at and go check in with my bags in tow. People say they wouldn't want to leave their bags in the car all day, especially when it's hot, but there's nothing in my bags that is going to get ruined from the heat. Plus I've heard some people who have used bell services had to wait a really long time to get their bags. It's all a matter of preference really and which ever way you decide, a split stay is really not that difficult.

Thanks everyone for the replies...
Yes TiggerPiglet I am the one you talked to in chat..
I had actually asked about it that afternoon on here
and when I noticed you in the chat
room I had asked you about it! Thanks again!
We are thinking about giving a split stay a try in the future.

Winnie - I'd definitely look at the Beach Club or Yacht Club for summer. The pool there is great! You might want to look into renting DVC points and staying at the BCV! I'd do the Poly later in the year.
