What do you think about syndicated online talkshows / radio programs eg Podcasting?

How often do you listen to podcast?

I listen to some WDW podcasts regularly, they download automatically to my MP3-compatible phone while it charges, and they are played via bluetooth on the car stereo while I'm driving to work.

My faves are:

WDW Today
WDW Radio Show
DIS Unplugged

The market is pretty much awash with the things though, far too many to listen to even a reasonable proportion of them - even my chosen three total about 7 or 8 hours of listening every week.

You can always listen to them via the podcaster's home page, usually there's a quick link to just listen directly on your PC (normally plays as an MP3 file in Windows Media Player).

If you want a fun one to start you off, I'd suggest the WDW Today show #414 - Snack, Sip (and Sick) (http://www.wdwtoday.com/article.php?story=20080526082406540). Just click on the Download Now link to download/play the show.

How do you download the podcast instead of it playing it right away? I'm new at this too.

Andre

To download a file straight to your PC (in Internet Explorer) just right-click on the link and select "Save Target As..."

If you want to subscribe to a podcast (so each new episode gets downloaded automatically to your computer) you'll need to use some kind of podcast aggregator software. The most famous and common is iTunes, although the one I use is called Juice.

Once you've installed the software, just browse or search through its listings to find the podcasts that you are interested in and subscribe to them. Future episodes will then be downloaded to your PC as soon as they are released.

If you have a portable MP3 player (such as an iPod) you can also use software to automatically transfer any newly downloaded podcasts straight to your player whenever you connect it to your PC. iTunes will also do this for iPods, for example.

Once set up, it's completely automatic - all you have to do is find time to listen to them! LOL

I listen to podcasts on my way to and from work, but (quite literally!) your mileage may vary.

Did you listen to the WDW Today episode that I linked above?

I listen exclusively at work, and listen the entire work day.

I'm going to listen to the posted show, and thanks for sharing it. I'm always in the market for WDW radio shows!

I haven't listen to it yet. I had listend to one about First time mistakes to avoid- that was pretty much common sense as long as you have read the UG or been to a message board.

I'm a sub at my daughters school and have been super busy this week! So I hope today, beside catching up on housework to to listen to a pod cast or two!

Agreed! LOL I had to google that Cadbury bar, Flake. Sounded good, LOL.

It's actually just pronounced "Flake" by the way (as in "snow flake"). They were making way too much hard work with that word, let alone the chocolate itself (which is yummy!).

There were some great 70's and 80's British TV ads for Flakes, try doing a search on YouTube for Cadbury Flake Advert.

There use to be this candy bar I loved called Choco-lite and this summer when we went to Nigagra Falls I found a candy called Aerobar, it's amost the same. I bought tons, LOL. But we are all out now. Time for another trip! Though I think Amazon sells it.

Cadbury does a candy bar for Canada called the Wonderbar (maybe Wunderbar?). You can get it at Epcot at the Canada pavilion. It's so good, especially if you like caramel.

I always found the texture of Aeros unsettling - maybe because the first one I had was green and mint-flavored.

Oh yeah - I listen to some Disney podcasts - WDW Today, WDW Radio, and some others when my iPod is low on content.

I also listen to several NPR shows, the Slate daily podcast, and a couple of Lost fan podcasts. I listen while I work out and while I'm going to sleep.

I used to listen to DISunplugged regularly, but ever since I was banned, I can't stomach listening to him. I would love to find another one to listen to.

I really like the WDWToday podcasts (a good replacement for DISUnplugged). I also like the Inside the Magic podcast. I occasionally listen to WDWRadio, but those can be a bit too long for my taste. I was pleasantly surprised recently with one that was less than an hour long:icon_wow:

I like

Inside the Magic
Character Breakfast
Imagineering My Way

When i am not listening to podcasts, i usually have Sorcerer Radio playing on my computer at work.

I've listened to the DisUnplugged for a year and a half, and unfortunately, don't enjoy it anymore because Pete Werner is too over the top with his nasty attitude.

Fortunately, that means there is a HUGE opening for another good, timely, critical, journalistic and fun roundtable style Disney theme parks podcast. Because you know if I'm over it, so are a couple thousand other people.

Other podcasts are ok, but amateurish. Only the DisUnplugged had really professional production values.

I have no idea how anyone could find the money to support such a thing, without owning a huge ad-revenue-generating site, a travel agency, etc. I'm sure they are good because they can pay people to create the show and they can buy decent equipment.

But everytime I heard an episode I thought, dang it, I could do that! I just need to not need to work, and devote myself to it. That's the rub, isn't it!

Oh, and Ed that was nice of you to offer your music collection!

I've only got 11.5 gigs of stuff, but it's all Walt Disney World theme parks and resorts. I'm assuming, Andre, that your collection total includes movie and cartoon music, and music from other parks!

I know there's more out there -- I used to get my stuff from mousebits.com, but the past year it's become more and more focused on video and there's less and less audio.

Wow, then I am really jealous! Do you by any chance have the Christmas music loop from the Polynesian resort? Have never found that one, don't know if it exists.

Thanks Christa but I did find it on my old iPod. And I have since "located" a few new loops from EPCOT. So if you need any let me now. I have a share file location.

Oh, cool! I'll check that out. I would love Epcot loops, too! The more the better. I have Disney jealousy bad right now. My next-door neighbor just told me they are headed down in the AM until Thursday! Waaa! I want to go, too, and April won't be here soon enough!

ETA: I'm in the process of downloading. Some of them I do have already, but better safe than sorry!

I haven't found a Disney Podcast that I like yet. I've tried a few and they didn't really hold my attention. However I'm always open to trying another. :)
