Disney's 'Bolt' rolls over into gaming world
As Bolt fans know, this is the story of a TV action superdog who gets lost from his Hollywood soundstage and soon finds out that his "super powers" are fake. As he tries to make his way home, he's joined by a star-struck hamster in a plastic exercise ball and an abandoned house cat, and soon discovers he doesn't need powers to be a hero.
The 3D computer game allows players to become either Bolt or Penny, his co-star in the film's action-packed television series. Game designers tried to come up with a mix of intrigue, combat, action and platform-style game play to challenge players to outsmart the evil villain Calico while saving Penny's dad and the world.
Curtis Cherrington, producer of the game for Disney Interactive, said he didn't want to simply recreate the movie but craft a new experience for the characters. Cherrington and his team worked with Bolt filmmakers from the very beginning, and that made the process easier than other film-to-computer games he's done.
The game is rated E10 for ages 10 and older.
