View Full Version : T-Rex MikeŠ 01-05-2009, 09:22 PM Has anyone tried it? Review ? TIA SorcererMickey 01-05-2009, 09:52 PM I have and unfortunately I don't really have much positive to say. Food is just ok, it's owned by the same company that owns Rainforest Cafe. RC's food used to be awesome years ago but it has certainly gone downhill. T-Rex's food is at the same level as RC's now, and it's very expensive. The theming inside is pretty cool. It has separate rooms, a meteor shower room that every so often has s show with meteors and a volcano. A jungle room similar to RC. The only room that is really hideous is the ice room, you have to walk though it to get to the restrooms. In a way it's ok, it's like walking through a glacier, but it's the worst to serve food in. All the lighting is blue/gray and absolutely nothing served there looks appetizing. The outside theming is pretty cool, if the building was sitting by itself in the middle of a field! Don't get me wrong, the entry is very interesting with the fossils, fire torches and prehistoric sounds. But what is it doing in the middle of DTD? DTD is Arts & Crafts theming, wood and art glass..., what is that building doing there??? Should people go there? Of course, it's an experience, it's T-Rex located in WDW DTD. But unless someone else pays for my food :D I am not setting foot in there again. Waternoose 01-05-2009, 10:00 PM Loved it - much much better than rainforest cafe. Before we went I had read the menus were exactly the same - I'm pretty sure they werent. I had the Gigantosaurus Burger - was a whole lot of burger. Loved the waffle fries they were really good smothered in catsup! Really like the atmosphere as well - lots of cool dinosaurs everywhere and each room has a very detailed theme. Loved the light up glasses - they arent small they are huge - bigger than I had ever seen anyway. Here are a few images - take a look in the photo gallery for more pictures ... http://www.dislive.com/disney-photo-gallery/data/504/101_2314.JPG Gigantosaurus Burger http://www.dislive.com/disney-photo-gallery/data/504/101_2315.JPG Triassic Tortellini http://www.dislive.com/disney-photo-gallery/data/504/101_2316.JPG Pteradactyl Salad http://www.dislive.com/disney-photo-gallery/data/504/101_2317.JPG Layers of the Earth Lasagna We will definitely go back again! GoofyJeff 01-09-2009, 10:16 AM We'll be trying it in a couple of weeks. There's a RFC about 15 minutes from us, at the mall, and we like it, but only on weekdays. Friday and Saturdays are way too busy. It takes forever to be served. :icon_sad: DVCJen 01-09-2009, 01:04 PM Great pics. We always arrive in Orlando on a Sunday and spend that night offsite and go to DTD - eating at Rain Forest Cafe. This year we are seriously considering eating at T-Rex instead. Does anyone know how far in advance you can make a dining reservation? Do you call the restaurant directly? I am assuming so since you do with Rain Forest. maz 01-09-2009, 02:06 PM Yes you phone TRex direct. i have heard you can book for up to 6 months ahead, but I haven't tried yet!!! We hope to take 4 grandkids in May!!!:icon_eek: Tel no. We actually ate in that ice room that SM talked about, lol. frisina04 01-09-2009, 06:35 PM thanks for the pics......we may stop there and have to check out that Colossal hamburger...lol ginnyfavers 01-29-2009, 05:55 PM I will be forced to eat there at least once, maybe twice, this summer. My ten year old son is beside himself with excitement about the place. I warned him that the Disunplugged podcast had said people were wearing earplugs to eat there, it was so loud, to which he replied, "COOL!" :icon_wow: SplashMoun10 01-29-2009, 06:35 PM I ate at T-Rex January 2nd. I loved it. The atmosphere is just incredible. I ate in the coral reef bar area. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/SuperStarKerri/029.jpg Right near the giant squid that moves! It was really loud in there. Had to yell at the person sitting next to you in order for them to hear you. Service was excellent. Food came in record time for Disney World. Unfortunetly mine and my sister's lemonade was watery-must have had to do with the machine it was in. Me and my mom had bronto burgers which were pretty good. I can't remember what my dad had but my sister had some kind of chicken wrap. She didn't like it-said the chicken was rubbery. We got it taken off the bill. But then she ordered the chocolate extinction dessert. That was delicious! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v296/SuperStarKerri/033.jpg So overall I really like T-Rex. I just think they need to adjust the menu because there are not many things to choose from. I think they will eventually realize they need to put things like sandwiches and chicken wings like the Rainforest Cafe has. As of right now, Rainforest Cafe has better food. |
