View Full Version : Disneyland Resort Paris, need advice, plz!!!
Purpledisfreak 01-15-2009, 02:04 PM Hi ALL! My DH and I are travelling to Germany and France in March, my first time overseas! :) We are staying 3 days @ DLP, our hotel is the Kyriad Disneyland. Does anyone have any tips, "must dos" or "don'ts"? Any thoughts are much appreciated from those who have visited or has knowledge about DLP. I really want to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity. I am doing a lot of research online, but I would really love some thoughts from my fellow Disney Freaks!:icon_lol:
bavaria 01-21-2009, 11:47 PM Hello! I have posted a number of long threads with tips and advice for DLRP, especially for American visitors, over on www.mouseowners.com (I hope that is ok for me to mention that site? if not I beg forgiveness for my first post!)
DLRP is to me far nicer than WDW Magic Kingdom and DHS. The food is better, the parks are cleaner, the CMs are nicer, etc etc. Plus many attractions are better than in America.
You may have heard some nasty tales somewhere else online about how we 'dirty foreigners' are making things miserable for Americans, but that simply isn't the case.
If you have any questions about Germany or France do ask; I spend of course quite a bit of time there when I am not travelling around other parts of the world! Going to DLRP after a day of work in Paris is a nice way for me to unwind, and I can hopefully help you with some tips if you need them.
Here are a few of mine (I hope that all these links work!)

Purpledisfreak 01-22-2009, 10:48 PM Hello Bavaria, I can't thank you enough for the links. I am going to dive right in on my next day off. As we get closer to our trip, I am sure that I will have some questions for you! THANKS AGAIN!:D

No problem at all. Unlike some sites on the net, we welcome any posts that are aimed at helping other members - and if that means linking to somewhere else that contains the information that they need, please feel free.
I visit DLRP once a year or so, and am happy to help out with information too by the way.
Andre
bavaria 01-23-2009, 05:26 AM Thank you for clarifying, Andre. I did read the forum guidelines but sometimes forget which rules apply where (and I tend to stick with whatever website rules are the most strict to make it easiest to remember!)
Purple, I think that you will be very pleasantly surprised at how much DLRP has to offer. If you can time your visit for periods when they have special events it is even more magical. For instance Bonfire Night fireworks are absolutely spectacular, and the Hallowe'en decorations are to me better than at WDW and even comparable to much seen during WDW's hard ticket events (although I will admit that nothing compares to the Headless Horseman!)
Try and fit in at least one good table service meal - Walt's, or Blue Lagoon, for instance.
And don't miss the unique rides and attractions like the new Crush coaster at the Studios or the dragon in his lair, and do try the rides which are found at the American parks but which are different in France - Pirates, Big Thunder, Phantom Manor for example.
Lovin' Lorne 01-23-2009, 01:24 PM Phantom Manor alone is worth the cost of getting there! We were there for their 10 year anniversary in '02, and had such a great time.
We especially liked the Alice In Wonderland themed hedge maze, and I LOVED the Storybook Canal. Of course it's one of my favorite rides at DL, so that probably had something to do with it. :icon_lol:

I LOVE Casey Jr circus train in DL in CA - one of my absolute favourite Disney rides ever (me and a large number of toddlers....)
The one at DLRP is wilder - Casey obviously has more freedom in France than in America :D He's peppier and the hills are a little steeper.
Sadly, though, both of these rides are closed for much of the year, so I rarely get to enjoy them. They reopen late spring and close again in the autumn.

I'm really glad we went in July then!
I hope we get to go back someday. We had so much fun!
