We have been wanting a to go to one of these restraunts
for a while now but keep on saying we will go when we stay
at AKL but for some reason we never stay there. So I guess
I better just arrange for us to have dinner there. Besides it
would be a great excuse to go over to the resort and maybe
seeing it would encourage the family to choose this resort sometime.
Both Jiko and Bama sound good to me and I have not heard anything bad
about either of them. Which would you choose and for which meal?

Boma is more family oriented, buffet style.

Jiko is the more high end, huge wine collection from Africa. My favorite dish there is the Fillet Mignon with macaroni & cheese on a red wine reduced sauce... getting hungry already.

I find Boma too loud and the service can be sup par, if they are crowded - which they always are.

If you don't mind sprining for the substantially higher prices at Jiko, I would choose that. Lovely restaurant, great service, good food!

I like both but my DH prefers Boma since he can try a little bit of many different things. If he had his way, we'd eat there almost every night we're at WDW! Jiko is a signature restaurant so it will be more expensive but the food is excellent.

ETA: If you decide to try Boma, book an ADR at your earliest opportunity. It is very popular with locals as well as WDW guests so it can be difficult to get a decent dining time there if you don't book as soon as you can. I've called 2 months in advance and the only dining times left were 8:30pm or later!

Fillet Mignon with macaroni & cheese on a red wine reduced sauce...

Never ate there, but that seems like an odd combination...
