View Full Version : Favorite restaurant?
Waternoose 01-13-2009, 05:09 PM Do you have a favorite place to dine when at Disney World that you absolutely must visit every trip?
I really want to find a great steakhouse - didnt have much luck with the yachtsman this past year and the year before we had to cancel Le Cellier - I keep hearing thats the best - I think we will look to try to make it there this year.
auntminnie 01-13-2009, 05:16 PM Mine is Brown Derby just because they have the Cobb Salad I love so much. If they moved that salad to any other restaurant, it would become my favorite.
If that salad didn't exist, I'd choose Le Cellier but truthfully, I like almost all of the sit down restaurants!
SorcererMickey 01-13-2009, 05:34 PM Mine is Brown Derby just because they have the Cobb Salad I love so much.
Same here when it comes to regular food. But I have different options depending on my mood.
Le Cellier is great, always been right up there for me, but recently they crammed more tables in so if you are just two people dinning chances are they stick you a small table in the middle of the dinning room, food is great but atmosphere is very crammed. If you are a group it's better since you'll have a bigger table and it will be comfortable. Yatchman's is also great for steaks.
Favorite in WS, other than Le Cellier, is Chef's de France. Finally convinced Mrs. SM to expand her culinary horizons (picky eater) and she loved it.
Winnie 01-13-2009, 06:53 PM Dh always wants to go to the Biergarten but I think that is more because
he misses Germany (he was stationed there for a while).
This might sound strange but the best steak I have had in Disney was the
Filete Motuleno at San Angel Inn. I have always heard good things about
Brown Derby and and Le Cellier and would love to try them both.
kymousefan 01-13-2009, 07:28 PM Le Cellier is my favorite. It is a must do every time. We also really enjoy Coral Reef at the Living Seas at Epcot. Boma for breakfast.
MKbaconbits 01-13-2009, 08:07 PM Another vote here for LeCellier! The mushroom filet just melts in your mouth - yum!
And yes SM it can be a bit cramped, but like you said I've always been with a group of six so it didn't feel too cramped to me. Plus if you can get an ADR early for dinner its not as busy.
For breakfast we like the Crystal Palace. My picky eaters always seem to eat well here. Plus the cinnamin sugary french toast things are so good.

Without doubt for me it would be Le Cellier. Great steaks, great service, great price (Free Disney Dining) :D
Little Woodin Head 01-26-2009, 11:21 AM For me the best Steak House is definitely Le Cellar also, I've never been disappointed there, although I've heard good things about the Yachtsman too.
In MK,....
It's Cinderella's castle for breakfast, once per trip..(Make those reservations early)
For lunch (if we're going to take the time) either the Crystal Palace or Tony's town Square.
and a special Dinner is always a monorail or boat ride away at either the GF, the Contemporary, Poly. or WL.
In EPCOT...
We try to do the Princess breakfast in Norway, once per trip also.
Lunch is anywhere in the WS at a quick serve.
and Dinner...besides Canada's Le Cellar, we love Morrocco's Maracesh (sp?), France's street side cafe (the name escapes me), in Italy we used to love Alfredo's and have yet to try the new one,...in fact we've tried almost all of the WS restaurants and enjoyed EVERY meal, but sad to say we've never done a sit down on the future world side of EPCOT.
In Disney Studios, we love Prime Time Cafe, and wish it would have a Fantasmic package to make it perfect.
and in AK...the breakfastasaurous is awesome in the AM
Lunch is always on the fly,
and Dinner is just a quick bus ride away at Boma.
:D
TiggerPiglet 01-26-2009, 01:55 PM Le Cellier is ours, we've never had a bad meal there. :)
mickeyears 01-27-2009, 11:59 PM Just like everyone else, Le Cellier is on top. But our close second is a tie between Jiko's and Artist Point. Actually, there are many great restaurants. I could make a list but I'm sure everyone posting in this forum already knows which ones are so very good !
AnnieS 02-03-2009, 08:56 PM During our January 08 trip, we had fantastic meals at LeCellier, Brown Derby and Kona Cafe. We would definitely go back to all of these restaurants - I would try Brown Derby at lunch instead of dinner this time though so I could try that Cobb Salad that I hear so much about. :icon_winkwink: My husband really wants to try The Yachtsman the next time we go.
disneyvillain90 02-03-2009, 09:55 PM My favorite is the rainforest cafe because i like the food and animals. My girlfriend likes it as well for the animals and the thunderstorm.
skippynut 02-03-2009, 10:00 PM Again for the Le Cellar! However the prime rib at Boatwrights at POR is supposed to be excelllent. I know it was great back in late 90's and then fell out of favor, but I here its back up there with the better steaks. will let you know for sure, as we will be doing dinner there the 1st night if possible.
mckryan 02-16-2009, 09:23 AM Oh gosh - a subject near and dear to my heart!
Best meal ever - Victoria & Alberts
Can't Miss - Plaza Restaurant (MK), Beaches & Cream, Kona Cafe (b'fast)
Love - Artist Point, Yachtsman, Narcoosee's, Teppan Edo
Okay - Jiko, California Grill (have had 2 not-so-good meals there), Liberty Tree Tavern
I'm sure there will be more as I think of them, but all-in-all we love the dining options at WDW!
GoofyJeff 02-16-2009, 10:43 AM So many restaurants, so little time! LOL
So far, I 'd have to say our fav is Flying Fish, on the Boardwalk.
jamaunt 02-16-2009, 01:09 PM The restaurant outside of Mexico at EPCOT...La Cantina De San Angel. Lots of food for the price and the atmosphere. We always try to find a table by the lake and look across at the other countries.
SplashMoun10 02-16-2009, 01:46 PM Gosh, favorite restaurant. I have to go with Rainforest Cafe. We are there every trip at least once. Plaza restaurant in the Magic Kingdom is probably my second favorite. Sandwiches are to die for!
tivogirl 02-16-2009, 05:16 PM Jiko is my absolute favorite. California Grill has good food, but hate the atmosphere. It's too loud! We just recently tried Bistro de Paris for the first time (upstairs of Chefs de France) and it was fantastic.
LOVE the Brown Derby for lunch! We actually figured out how to duplicate the cobb salad recipe at home. It's a lot of work but worth it when we get the craving!
I also quite like the 50s PrimeTime Cafe and Casey's hotdogs.
mikey 02-16-2009, 06:23 PM Le Cellier is probably tops here too. The Turf Club at SSR also has very good prime rib, so that probably comes in second here for me
[-Strife-] 02-18-2009, 10:31 PM My Favorite Restaurant, I'd have to say, would be the California Grill.
I've only been there once, and I know for a fact that this restaurant will become a regular tradition each time we're in Disney.
A favorite cafe of mine is the Electric Umbrella, Everytime we're in Disney it is definitely another tradition of ours to eat here for lunch at least once or twice during our stay.
[-Strife-] 02-18-2009, 10:36 PM I'd also like to say one of my favorites is the Rainforest Cafe.
I enjoy going to the one at the entrance of Animal Kingdom more than the downtown Disney one because of it's "secret" entrance into the Park, and it's just more enjoyable to eat there because of the setting.
I live in Northern Jersey, we used to have Rainforest Cafe restaurants, but they're all gone. :icon_cry:
So it's a nice treat to eat there while in Disney.
Next time we're in Disney I really want to try the new T-Rex Restaurant in Downtown Disney.
I know for sure that will be an instant favorite of mine.
Too many Favorites. Love it.
guppy 02-19-2009, 09:43 PM How about Garden Grill at Epcot?? Have reservations there for our upcoming trip and have never eaten there. Any comments?
Thanks!
auntminnie 02-20-2009, 08:22 AM We like garden grill and it's fun that the seating turns, so you can look down into the Land ride, and see upstairs in the farmhouse in that ride. When you look in the window, you'll see things only someone eating at the Land sees. It's a lot of fun. The food is good, nothing fancy, but plenty of it.
M5ward 02-22-2009, 03:57 PM I guess my favorite dining depends on the park.
Chef de France is a must do every trip. In January we had a spectacular meal (and service) at Yachtsman Steakhouse. We've enjoyed California Grill, Brown Derby (another every trip place), Crystal Palace (breakfast), Cape May Cafe Clam Bake. We have had good food at Le Cellier, but our last time there was disappointing.
I basically plan my park days around where I want to eat. It's really fun to discover a new "favorite" when we're in the World. Yachtsman was it last trip!
[-Strife-] 02-22-2009, 08:18 PM Oh! I love the Garden Grill too.
Soo many amazing Restaurants.
laura001 02-23-2009, 09:03 AM I am not a big "steak" fan....but DH's favourite "steak" restaurant is Le Cellier. I would have to say that my favourite is Chefs de France, DH isn't a fan because we had a waiter with real "SNOB" attitude and he just can't seem to get past that. So.....I always make sure I hit Chefs when I travel with someone other than DH. :)
grumpy 03-02-2009, 06:53 PM I think our favorite is Ohanas followed closely by Crystal Palace.

Bright Scouter 03-04-2009, 09:23 AM We tried Chefs de France for the first time this trip. It was very good, but just not spectacular like we had hoped. We do a lot of great cooking at home and experiment a lot with spices. It seemed that what we had was somewhat subdued in flavor. I am not looking for hot type spicy, just very flavorful. I would try it again, just to give it a second chance though since there was nothing wrong with it.
The other night of our trip, we ate at Raglan Road again that was spectacular from our viewpoint. We had the Guinness Bangers and Mash. It was excellent and a perfect portion size. Most times we feel we get too much food and this was perfect.
BamaJenn 03-05-2009, 11:35 AM This is another one of those topics that would be spreadout by park for me. We really love the Crystal Palace at MK for both breakfast and lunch (we've yet to do dinner there). Our favorite restaurant at Epcot was always the Garden Grill but now that it's no longer a character lunch it's not a stopping point for us. I LOVE the table service place inside Mexico... can never remember the name.
geogat 03-22-2009, 02:24 PM We love Cape May Cafe. Also.. each trip need to go to the Sci-Fi Drive in at Disney Studios. For a quick bite at downtown we make a stop at Wolf Gang Puck Express. Great food and a very good value!
KVanHilton 03-22-2009, 03:28 PM We at at the Yachtman's Steakhouse this past trip and I swear it's the best meal I've had in my life. DH loved it too.
tinkcrafter 03-22-2009, 04:52 PM Our favorite has become Boma, either lunch or dinner. We eat there every trip.
We also like The Brown Derby...
