View Full Version : Smelling Disney!
Winnie 01-13-2009, 12:17 PM I didnt know where to post this so it might need to be moved to the proper location if is not here....
Just wondering if anyone else ever does this?
Smells Disney when your not there that is!
I sprayed some air freshener that had an apple/cinnamon
smell and as I walked through the room a few moments later
I thought of Mickey's PhilharMagic. (The Pie that is)
Me and the kids smell different smells all the time that
remind us of Disney.. Especially when we drive by a
restraunt that is smelling extremely good.
Hehe just thought I would ask in hopes that we are not the
only completely crazy-over the top for Disney folks that will find
anything to remind us of WDW...:icon_rofl:
auntminnie 01-13-2009, 12:53 PM We have a BBQ restaurant closeby and each time we go there, we say "I smell the fall of the Roman Empire". Spaceship Earth. The smell is exactly the same!
DVCJen 01-22-2009, 09:38 AM There was a candle years ago that Yankee Candle sold - it was green. Gosh I wish I could remember the name - it reminded us of the smell of the Wilderness Lodge.
If I remember the name I will come back and post it.
myherozero 01-22-2009, 09:40 AM This may sound gross, but when I jog in the spring and summer the rain on the streets in the morning makes it smell like Disney in the morning. I remember when I worked there, one of the first things we all had to do was push water and wipe down benches, etc. due to the power sprays that would go through. This has the same smell, and it makes me feel like I am running through the Magic Kingdom, especially if I have my iPod on my Parks music.
krasiva 01-22-2009, 10:49 AM I'm always surprised when I catch a wiff of something unexpected that just floods me with memories of WDW. I'd love to find something that I can bring home with me that would do that. There was an orange aromatherapy oil, I think from the Body Shop, that reminds me of the orange grove scene from Soarin'.
Misty 01-22-2009, 11:32 AM cooking smoked bacon reminds us of the old SE.
and this confession is sooo sad, it's not even right! Hubby walked past a new plug in air freshener I'd put in the hall, and said that it reminded him of disney but couldn't place where.... I checked and it did indeed smell of disney..... the laundry room.... it was a glade clean linen scent....
How hubby knew the laundry room smelt like that I do not know ;)

that orange grove smell is AMAZING isn't it? We used to live in Southern Cali and drove by one all the time. I will never forget the smell of orange blossoms.
mickeyears 01-22-2009, 05:12 PM Interesting Thread !
I randomly purchased some deodorant that reminds me of one of the ocean scenes from Soarin'. Men's Old Spice High Endurance Stick labeled as Pacific Surge. I swear I've picked-up that smell at Soarin'. My wife loves it !
TNmickey 01-22-2009, 06:57 PM I was at a Rain Forest Cafe and the smell of the water and steam from the inside and out reminded me of every Disney ride that has water...which is alot of them. Not sure what it is, but that smell reminds me alot of the dark water rides.
Winnie 01-22-2009, 07:01 PM Yall are making me feel so much better!
I was afraid it was just us and that we
had really gone mad lol...

Lou called it the "musty water" smell in a podcast this summer. I know exactly the scent you are talking about!
mickeyears 01-22-2009, 09:44 PM No Winnie, you're just one of the special few who understand the MAGIC !
Am I There Yet 01-23-2009, 03:07 PM I used to think of Horizons when I smelled Dreamsicles!

That was mine and my grandma's favorite ride. She loved smelling the oranges in that attraction, and seeing all of the different versions of the future.
jaylincs 03-27-2009, 12:39 PM I don't get many smells that remind me of the smells of WDW but when I get there my nose seems to switch to supersensitive even though it can be several years between visits the smells instantly become familiar, the musty smell of the monorail, the wonderful smell of the bakers in main street, the candy store in main street, in fact you can feel the weight going on just breathing in the fumes from the candy store.
In fact I guess the first smell is that of the Florida humid hot air as you exit the aircraft, oh how I long for another trip, think I'll do another line on this weeks lottery.
