Ok, we've all had time to think about it now. So what do you think, was the change a good or bad thing?

View Full Version : RCI Good or Bad MikeŠ 01-03-2009, 08:28 PM Ok, we've all had time to think about it now. So what do you think, was the change a good or bad thing? Waternoose 01-04-2009, 12:12 AM I think I would go with good and bad - as in there are no doubt benefits for everyone involved. I figure up front the real winner is RCI! What do you think? DVCJen 01-09-2009, 01:15 PM I must be totally out of the loop or living in my own little rose colored world. What exactly is RCI - I am thinking it is a way of trading out - correct? Mom Poppins 01-09-2009, 10:44 PM Hi Jen ~ RCI took the place of Interval for Disney Vacation Club. I personally am not happy about it. We own at Disney but own another timeshare we used to trade into Disney, that timeshare participates with Interval but not RCI! We have 2 exchanges for this year that we just got at the end of December since we knew the change was coming. Boardwalk 1 bedroom for May 23-30 and Saratoga for a 2 bedroom for Sept. 20-27. These are 7 night exchanges. It only cost us the exchange fee of 139 and a Disney fee of 95. The only other cost is the dues which are 500 yearly. It was nice while it lasted. Now we need to look for an RCI resort that exchanges into Disney... or buy more points! By the way ... Congrats Mike on the new site! :) DVCJen 01-09-2009, 11:17 PM Gotchya. I guess I really just don't pay attention to much of that because we really don't have much of a desire to use our points anywhere else right now. Someday I am sure we will - but not in the foreseeable future. Thanks for explaining. :) Mom Poppins 01-10-2009, 03:58 PM Interval has Starwod and Marriotts... RCI has the Hyatt and a few other big names. Some disners that do exchange out of Disney are not happy about the change, since the quality of Staroods and Marriotss are top notch compared to what is available in RCI in my opinion. :) MrsPotts 02-17-2009, 10:26 AM I was talking to one of my friends this weekend. They bought a timeshare down in San Antonio because they could exchange for Disney through II. She had NO IDEA that DVC had switched to RCI, and she was not happy when I told her. Now they're thinking about selling. So for her, it was BAD. For me personally, I don't know yet. We've never done an exchange, so I don't know if RCI is better or worse. |
