View Full Version : New Quick Service Plan?
Mom Poppins 01-12-2009, 04:53 PM The new Quick Service plan started on the 11th. We are thinking about doing this plan vs. the regular Disney Dining Plan.
I don't like being so tied down to the resevations so far ahead of time. We are going to try to relax more this time around. We are going May 23rd. and staying at the Boardwalk.
:)
MauiMouse 01-12-2009, 05:08 PM The next time that I stay on site I plan on seriously looking into this. I like Table Service restaurants, but way too much food. I like a good burger and fries every now and then. This last trip in December I never got that burger. :icon_wow:
Mom Poppins 01-12-2009, 07:11 PM The counter services are so much more than just burgers although a good burger is nice. The counter services at Epcot are a really nice variation. At Animal Kingdom they have barbeque, pizza and the new one by Yak and Yeti is awesome! Oh and the Starring Rolls has great sanwiches and desserts and Hollywood Studios!
Happy Planning! :)
SorcererMickey 01-12-2009, 07:23 PM So many excellent Counter Services to choose from, Noodle Station at MK, Cosmic Rays is also very good with the topping bar, Caribbean Beach Food Court, POP Food court, Flame Tree BBQ at AKL, Season's at The Land in Epcot.
We will probably do this option from now on.
TiggerPiglet 01-12-2009, 10:58 PM Can someone explain to me what the Quick Service plan includes and how much?
Thanks:)
SorcererMickey 01-13-2009, 07:58 AM The normal basic Dining Plan includes, 1 table service meal, 1 quick service meal, and 1 snack per person per day. It's very nice, but sometimes it's really hard to fit a table service meal every day and some restaurants it's also hard to get into.
The basic Quick Service Dining Plan, includes 2 quick service meals and 1 snack per person per day, less expensive and much more convenient for the majority of families.
auntminnie 01-13-2009, 08:31 AM Counter service is great and not just for burgers. There are times we really want a sit down dinner, but for the most part, we don't want to spend all that time in a restaurant. We're trying the new plan next time. When I want a Cobb salad, I'll just go pay for it!
Mmmmm. Cobb salad. My favorite dish in all the World!
MauiMouse 01-13-2009, 02:10 PM Believe me I know that counter service isn't just for a burger. I love the Counter Service in Morocco, United Kingdom and China. They also have an awesome salad over at Toy Story Pizza Planet as well. So yes, it's nice for a burger, but I was just trying to point out that my last trip I didn't get a burger and fries.

It also includes a refillable mug at your resort too. Another fantastic perk in my book. :icon_thumbsup:

GoofyJeff 01-14-2009, 09:37 AM We just signed up for it yesterday for our trip next week. I'll post reactions.
TiggerPiglet 01-14-2009, 03:38 PM Thanks for the link. I didn't see how much it costs on there. Does anyone know how much it is?

We got the plan for DVC members, and it's $30/adult/day, $9 for our 8-year-old/day.
From disneyworld.com:
2009 Magic Your Way Package Plus Quick Service Dining
Package for US$1734*
3-night/4-day Moderate Resort Package with Quick-Service Dining — US$109* a day per person!
Package for US$2123*
6-night/7-day Value Resort Package with Quick Service Dining—US$76* a day per person!
TiggerPiglet 01-15-2009, 11:21 AM hmmmm, $30, that's only $9 less than the TS plan. I wonder if it will be worth it. When we go in Aug., both of my kids will be considered adults, 13 & 10 and I see the kid amount is exactly the same as the TS Plan. I'll have to break out my calculator and see. I know the $39 a day doesn't work since we don't eat a lot.
mom2mykids 01-15-2009, 02:05 PM There is a member on the dis, Robinb and she has these pages that break down the DDP. They are for last year and 2007 I think. I did PM her and she said she may update them.
I'll post the links mayeb it will say if she is updating them or not.

Mom Poppins 01-16-2009, 11:01 AM I would love to know how this plan works for you GoofyJeff when you return. We always use the dining plan but I don't like being tied down to the reservations everyday. I am hoping the next vacation will be more relaxing for me, since I am the planner.
I know it is not much of a savings but we are a family of 7 the extra cost and the tips do add up on a 7 night stay. :)

I'll certainly write a report when I get back. :)
cazzie 01-16-2009, 05:38 PM We have this for September and I think it will suit us. We did the dining plan in 07 and it drove me nuts, I couldn't get any evening reservations as I left it to late so the only reservations were for lunch time and we both felt like it took over our holiday.
tbell59 01-18-2009, 08:23 PM I was at WDW the first year they had the dinning plan. You were tied down to the reservation you made months in advance. It was also to much food. I like the counter service, you have a nice variety and the food is excellent. We love Cosmic Ray’s chicken.
I remember a Cast Member coming up to us at the park to take a survey of our stay and the requested an email for a more extensive survey were we returned home. I did mention, which I can assume a lot of people did for a counter service dining plan. It is nice to know someone is listing to the people who come to the parks. Hope you have a great trip, go check out the chicken at Cosmic Ray’s. :icon_wavey:
Mom Poppins 01-27-2009, 08:54 AM Hi Jeff.. We have really been enjoying the cam... thanks! Please let us know how you like the new dining plan when you get back home. :)
Diser08 01-27-2009, 02:38 PM I go to the parks solo, and have always done the dining plan, but what i started finding that is way too much food for me.... usually when i get to WDW, i always lose my appetite, i'm like the energizer bunny! :D But normally when i'm at home dining out, i always split my food to make 2 meals... so when i do the dining plan, i want to do the same thing... but then if i do that then all my credits get goofed up...and i feel like im wasting food.... then i think the CSDP would work... but then again, i dont eat dessert with every meal... and then the 2 snack credits a day you get... man that just adds up... so make a long story short, my trip in May which will be 7 nights/8 days.... im doing my own plan... i know where all the good counter services places are so i wont be eating hamburgers/chicken tenders the whole time! I'll let ya know how it goes!!!
P.S. But for families, i do agree that the dining plans are a great plan!
Diser08 01-27-2009, 02:40 PM opps double post
GoofyJeff 01-30-2009, 12:24 PM Hi folks, just wanted to check in and let you know about our experiences with the QS dining plan. For us, I think it worked out well. We had plenty of food, even with the CS meals. We aren't usually dessert folks, but with this plan it comes with the meal, so we took advantage of it. And with the snack options, we had plenty. Cost-wise, we didn't do the exact math, but it seems like it evened out in the end, so it wasn't a huge money-saver for us, but it was convenient. We'll definitely do it again in August.
TiggerPiglet 01-30-2009, 09:21 PM Thanks for the feedback Jeff. I think I may try this when I go in Aug.
Mom Poppins 01-31-2009, 11:31 PM Thanks Jeff. We are trying the new plan for the first time in May. Are the credits pooled or seperated between adults and children. Thanks again! :)
wdwnut 02-10-2009, 01:14 PM does everyone in your party have to do the same dining plan? meaning 3 out of the 4 can't have the dining plan right?
GoofyJeff 02-10-2009, 01:33 PM Thanks Jeff. We are trying the new plan for the first time in May. Are the credits pooled or seperated between adults and children. Thanks again! :)
Yes, credits are pooled. All the CMs we enCOUNTERED (pun intended :) ) were careful to tell us the number of credits remaining after we ordered.

Right, everyone must be on the plan AFAIK.
