View Full Version : Do you cruise?
Waternoose 01-12-2009, 11:52 AM I watched the show on travel channel new years night about the Disney cruise line and it looked like a lot of fun, but it did seem like it would be better geared toward adults / teenagers...
Have you ever been on a Disney Cruise? Was it the Disney Magic or the Disney Wonder?
I'mNoPrince 01-12-2009, 01:11 PM I have done a RCCl about 18 years ago . DW and DD have never been on one . We plan on doing either a Cruise or DL in 2010 as we are Points Poor with our DVC and DD will be turning 16 just seems like the perfect time.
If we do the Cruise most likely it will be the 3 or 4 dayer to see if it fits us and catch a day at Vero and maybe a few days at US/IOA to fill out the vacation.
The thing is DD and myself are very finicky /pickey eaters that don't like to make a fuse or draw attention and this will be our biggest concern on the Cruise. I know full well that there is a ton of food available but how and when we like to eat will be a challange that most of the time we wuld rather just not deal with.
SorcererMickey 01-12-2009, 01:11 PM It might have seemed that way but it's because once you drop off your kid or teen at the Oceaneer Club or Lab in the morning, you will not see them again until the end of the day and they will kick and scream because they will not want to leave. Nobody does kids activities better than DCL.
We've been on 12 Disney Cruises including the 7-Night Western and Mediterranean Cruise in 2007.
goofygal1975 01-12-2009, 02:54 PM My first Disney Cruise was on the Wonder 5/15/05. I went as a single mom with my son who was 9 at the time. He LOVED it!! He went to the kids club twice, only for a little bit at a time. We enjoyed spending time together at the pool and around the ship. We loved it so much we that we rebooked onboard. (got a $200 on board credit and a 10% dicount). Due to life throwing us a few curves, we had to postpone the cruise twice.
We now have it booked for 5/23/09!! My husband is very excited about this cruise as it will be his first. This time my ds is looking forward to the clubs and says he'll see us at dinner time! LOL
The first cruise was a 4 night. This time we will be on the Magic 7 night Eastern with a stop at Tortola! We are very exctied about it!
krasiva 01-22-2009, 09:25 AM My first cruise was on Carnival back in '89 then DH and I went on RCCL. Once the kids came along we cruised on DCL twice. We love DCL best but the higher than normal price doesn't allow us to cruise as often as we like. I'd love, love, love to do the Northern Europe/Baltic cruise just to see Russia again but I can't justify the price with so many things that need done around the house.
TiggerPiglet 01-22-2009, 09:27 AM My first and only cruise was on Royal Caribbean to Alaska. It was a lot of fun, but my DH didn't like the whole "scheduled" thing that comes along with a cruise, but agreed the cruise was the best way to see Alaska.:)
wedindisney 01-30-2009, 08:05 PM My 1st cruise was on carnival back in Nov 04. We just booked a Disney cruise last week for 7 days on the Magic leaqving on Oct 3rd and it does the western caribbean. We are so excited....
sneadae 01-30-2009, 08:30 PM We cruise every year with small children. My son is 4 and he will be going on his 4th cruise this summer. We've done Carnival and Royal Carribbean, but never Disney. This year, thanks to the Kids Sail Free program, we will be cruising Disney right after our Disney parks vacation.
Disney cruises have always been way out of our budget - compared to what we can get on other lines. Everyone tells us that Disney is far superior than any other line. I can't wait to find out if that is true. If it is true, then I guess we can kiss our vacation budget goodbye :)
In all reality, I think all cruises are fabulous. It's definitely what you make of it. And there's something to do for people of all ages.
mikey 01-31-2009, 08:13 AM We have never been on a cruise, but wanted to do something special for our upcoming 20th anniversary. we thought who better to go on our first cruise with than Disney Cruise. We have booked the DVC Members Cruise in September.
goofy'helper 11-23-2009, 07:28 PM My huband and I have been on two Princess Cruises one to Alaska and the other to the Baltics. As nice as they were they can not compare to the DCL. We did a New Years one and the Panama Canal Cruise with Disney and loved every minute of it. We went alone as our children are grown and met some wonderful people, We are now booked on the Eastbound TA and the Mediterrean Cruise that follows. We love the quality, the organization and of course the fun that Disney provides.

But next time we will be taking the youngest who will be 12 when we go again.
We are very picky eaters but there really is alot of food choices, and you dont have to go to the dining rooms for the food there are other places and a buffet to get your food from.
