We got crazy a few weeks ago and decided, "Hey! Let's try to schedule a 'quickie' trip to WDW for a long weekend!'" Lo and Behold, we were able to get a room at Old Key West. So, here we go! Leaving E-A-R-L-Y in the morning. No kids. Just the wife & me! My work load has eased-up enough for me to relax a little. This is going to be nice! Just wish I had some $$$$ to take with us! Any Donors?

OK! Time for bed!

Have a great time. I would love to get down for a long weekend with only my husband. At the same time I think I would feel a guilty leaving DS7 at home, since he is addicted like I am. Have a magical trip!!!

We arrived a little after 2:00 pm, safe and sound. We refeshed ourselves and visited EPCOT. Not as busy as I thought it would be. Wait times were too long to mess with so we enjoyed a walk around the Park taking in the flowers and visited Innoventions. Dinner was at Tutto Italia. We soon realized how tired we were from our 9 hour drive, so we returned to Old Key West, took a short snooze, then visited the Wilderness Lodge and drank a smoothie. Back at the room now; time for a shower and bed. Night all !

I see I'll have to be more careful with my choice of words! We're back home now, so I can give a "quick" synopsis.
Each morning, the crowds weren't bad at all. But, by noon, the crowds were growing fast.
Magic Kingdom:
Lots of walls up in Fantasyland as their new project begins. For now, you can still get to Toon Town, but, it's days are numbered.
Riding Space Mountain was different. We had just started and the lights came on. Some of those drops are steeper than you might think they are! I'd rather leave the lights off!
EPCOT:
The topiary and the decorations at the entrance are GREAT! Of course, they always put on a show with the flowers during the Flower & Garden Festival. Maybe it's me, but it seemed to me that the "plussing" of the Festival is not to the same degree of the previous few years. Could be an effect of the economy. I thoroughly enjoyed the slow walk around the World Showcase.
Animal Kingdom:
I always enjoy K. Safari. I know that generally it's always the same, but that's OK.
Expedition Everest is great. The substitute Yeti is a wimp compared to the original that's broken. They need to get it up and running quickly.
We rode with some rookies on Dinosaur. That ride really got their attention!
Didn't get to see any shows. Darn! I really like Festival of the Lion Kong and Finding Nemo.
Hollywood Studios:
Rode Tower of Terror with some rookies (seven 9th & 10th graders). They were fun! The one girl in the group was the only one who had done this ride. She was so pumped-up, it caused everyone on the ride vehicle to get a little crazy!
Rockin' Roller Coaster was broken. Darn! Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular was screwed-up, too. Double Darn! But, Toy Story Mania made up for it.

Saw the "Tron" monorail. It didn't look as "commercial" as I thought it would. This weekend, it was on the Epcot to TTC circuit.

We finished our "quickie" with a great meal at Artist Point (Wilderness Lodge).
Warm sourdough bread, salad, portabelo mushroom soup, cedar plank salmon, and the Artist Point Berrie Cobbler. My taste buds were doing the "dance of joy" !:icon_rofl:

You can't do everything on these quick trips, but you can sure enjoy the highlights! I hope everyone here on Eyes-on-Ears can sneak-in a "quickie" trip every now and then. Sometimes, you just gotta say "DO IT !"

Thanks for the quickie update, mickeyears! Sounds like a great time. Our quickie trip in January was like that. We knew we wouldn't have time for everything, so we didn't rush around, and we still had a great time.

Love those quickies!! :icon_winkwink:
